Der Fürstenhof war wohl der beliebteste und berühmteste Tanzsaal in der ehemaligen DDR.
Alleine schon wegen des illustren Publikums das man dort antreffen konnte, denn dies war der Lieblingstanzsaal von Erich und Margot Honecker die wohl wie man sagt sehr gerne das Tanzbein geschwungen haben.
Inzwischen verkommt das ganze Gelände völlig.
In den 90ern für eine D-Mark von Grundstücksspekulanten aufgekauft, wohlgemerkt mit der Auflage das Gebäude in Schuss zu halten, lässt man es bewusst vergammeln um irgendwann dann gezwungenermaßen den Abriss beginnen zu dürfen, falls das Gebäude nicht vorher von alleine einstürzt. Der Grund? Das Gelände ist ohne Gebäude wesentlich mehr wert.
Diesem Schicksal sehen viele unter Denkmalschutz stehende Gebäude entgegen.

If only because of the illustrious audience that could be found there, as this was the favourite dance hall of Erich and Margot Honecker, who, it is said, loved to shake a leg.
In the meantime, the whole area has completely decayed.
Bought up by property speculators in the 90s for one Deutschmark, mind you, with the condition that the building be kept in good condition, it is being deliberately allowed to decay so that demolition can begin at some point if the building doesn’t collapse on its own first. The reason? The site is worth considerably more without the building.
Many listed buildings face this fate.
