Lange vorbei sind die Zeiten in denen dieses alte Freibad mit Olympia Sprungturm genutzt wurde. 1972 trainierte hier noch die Deutsche Nationalmannschaft im Turmspringen für die Spiele in München.
Einst war es das beliebteste Freibad der Region und dann beschloss die Politik das Aus für diese Freizeit Attraktion, die ausser dem Sprungturm noch ein Wellenbad, Kinderbad und 50m Becken besaß.
390.000 Euro hätte der Betrieb jedes Jahr gekostet. Statt dessen wurde ein neues Bad direkt neben der alten Städte gebaut. Ein Hallenbad mit dem Charme einer Wellblechbaracke. Unbeliebt beim Volk und mit 6,2 Millionen Euro so teuer, das man glatt 16 Jahre lang davon das Freibad hätte unterhalten können…

Times have past, when this old outdoor swimming pool with Olympia diving platforms has been used. 1972 the german national team of high diving trained here for the olympics in Munich.
Once it was the most popular swimming pool of the region but the government decided to close this leisure attraction which had a wave pool, children pool and a 50m pool beside the diving platforms.
The running costs amounted to 390.000 Euro per year. Instead of pumping this money into the outdoor pool they built a new indoor pool with the charm of an iron hut next to it. Unpopular among the people and with 6,2 Million quite pricy it would have been better to keep the old outdoor pool which could have been maintained the next 16 years for the same amount of money…
